The houseboat is a traditional wooden boat originally used as a cargo or rice boat now thatched artistically with natural bamboo and cane. Day 01 Arrive Trivandrum Arrive at Trivandrum airport and transfer to your hotel in Kovalam. Kovalam Beach is internationally renowned beach and has been favorite haunt of tourists since the 1930s. Kovalam consists of three adjacent crescent beaches. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. Day 02 Kovalam-Kanyakumari-Kovalam (90 kms/2 hours) Depart after early breakfast for Kanyakumari, the Land’s End otherwise called “Cape”. En route visit the Padamanbhapuram Palace, the seat of the erstwhile rulers of Travancore. This is a well-preserved wooden palace, a glorious testimony to the traditional Kerala school of architecture. Later visit Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Gandhi Memorial and wait for viewing the sunset, if weather permits. Return to your hotel in Kovalam. Day 03 Kovalam – Houseboat (170 kms/3½ hours) Depart after breakfast for Alleppey, the Venice of East, to board your private houseboat. The houseboat is a traditional wooden boat originally used as a cargo or rice boat; now thatched artistically with natural bamboo and cane. It has a neat bedroom, a sit out, kitchen and European toilet. There are three crewmembers on the boat, one is the cook and other two are punters who stand on each end of the boat punting through lake and narrow canals.
